Ninth Congress of the European Association for Jewish Studies (EAJS)

Ravenna (Italy) - 25th to 29th July 2010

The event, is addressed to scholars that work in various roles in the fields of Judaic studies, from ancient to contemporary. The conference will be organised into 16 sections:

1. Biblical History and Archaeology

2. Biblical Literature and Language

3. Second Temple Judaism

4. Jews and Judaism in Late Antiquity

5. Rabbinic Literature

6. Medieval Jewish History

7. Medieval Jewish Literature

8. Manuscripts, Codices and Books

9. Early Modern History (1492-1600)

10. Modern Jewish History (1600-1933)

11. Modern Jewish Literature

12. Jewish Languages

13. Jewish Arts

14. Contemporary Jewish History (after 1933)

15. Jewish Philosophy

16. Jewish Mysticism, Kabbalah, Magic

Proposals for papers (20 minutes + 10 minutes for discussion), containing a title and a 300-word abstract, should be sent on the attached form to the Congress Secretariat (eajs.ravenna2010@gmail.com) by 31 October 2009, indicating in which of the 16 sections of the Congress the lecture might best be placed.

Proposals must be accompanied by a brief CV, return mailing address, email address and telephone number.

The official language of the congress will be English.
